Formoso, an incorporated town of Jewell county, is located on the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific R. R. 12 miles east of Mankato, the county seat, and miles from Courtland. It has banking facilities, a weekly newspaper (the New Era), telegraph and express offices, and an international money order postoffice with three rural routes. The population in 1910 was 475.
