O. A. HENNERICH, M. D. A physician and surgeon who has gained a well justified reputation for skill and ability, Dr. Hennerich has been established in his profession at Hays since 1911. He comes of a professional family, his father and two of his brothers being medical men.

Dr. Hennerich was born at St. Louis, Missouri, April 24, 1885. His grandfather, Joseph Hennerich, was born at Mannheim on the Rhine River in 1812. On coming to the United States he located at St. Louis, where he followed the business of general contracting, and he died there in 1896. He married in that city a Miss Lutz, who also died there.

The father of Dr. Hennerich is Dr. J. P. Hennerich, who was born in 1862 and has spent all his life in St. Louis. He graduated M. D. from the St. Louis Medical College and has practiced surgery there for thirty-five years. He is an independent voter in politics and a member of the Catholic Church, Dr. J. P. Hennerich married Anna Butz. She was born in Austria in 1864, her parents being from Dresden, Germany. Dr. J. P. Hennerich and wife have five children: Joseph P., who graduated A. B. and M. D. from St. Louis University, is now in practice in St. Louis; Dr. O. A. Hennerich; Anna M., who received her A. B. degree from Mary Institute at St. Louis and is still with her parents; Walter E, a graduate physician of St. Louis University and now a lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy; and Frank A., who is in the United States army, stationed at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis.

Dr. O. A. Hennerich attended the parochial schools at St. Louis and on May 22, 1909, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Louis University. He had a thorough practical experience as an interne in St. Louis hospitals, and in 1909 also began private practice there, being associated with the St. Louis Skin and Cancer Hospital and the Josephine Hospital. Fortified by this exceptional experience and training, Dr. Hennerich moved out to Hays, Kansas, in 1911 and has since been busied with a general medical and surgical practice. His offices are in the Weisner Building. He is a member of the Phi Beta Pi college fraternity, is a third degree Knight of Columbus and a member of St. Joseph's Council No. 1325 at Hays. He also belongs to Hays Lodge of Ancient Order of United Workmen, and is a Catholic. In politics he casts his vote according to the dictates of his judgment. He is now serving as public health officer at Hays.

June 15, 1910, at St. Louis, Dr. Hennerich married Miss Iva Mae Pernoud, daughter of Henry and Josephine (O'Leary) Pernoud. Her father is a machinist at DeSoto, Missouri, and her mother resides with Dr. and Mrs. Hennerich, The latter have three children: Josephine, born April 25, 1912; Otto A., Jr., born September 1, 1914; and Iva May, born December 1, 1915.
