GENTRY (AR) JOURNAL-ADVANCE, 24 January 1913
Obituary of OMER T. HULS
HULS, Omer T. -- Omer T Huls was born in Dearborn Co., IN Feb 21, 1835; departed this life at Bartlesville, OK, Jan 13, 1913.
In early life he professed a hope in Christ and united with the Baptist church of which he was a faithful and active member until his death, serving as deacon some 50 years. Deceased moved to Labette Co., KS in Oct 1870, settled on the raw prairie where he battled with sickness and misfortune, burying his two oldest sons, aged 17 and 11. He was identified with the Missionary Baptist Church where the town of Edna now stands. Losing his health he sold his farm at a loss and moved to Springtown, AR in the year of 1879 where he united with the church and
lived til Sep 25, 1912 when he left for Bartlesville, OK to visit his daughter, Mrs. Lenna E. Ellis, where he died very suddenly of heart failure.
On Feb 21, 1854 he was united in marriage to Pheba A. Green; to this union were born eleven children of whom only four are living. On the 29th of Jan 1912, after almost 58 years of loving companionship, the wife was called before to a better world.
Since that time the husband has resided with his children and although very lonely has endeavored to be cheerfull at all times and while the children deeply feel the loss of a loving father yet they realize that their loss is his eternal gain and while the parting is sad indeed they mourn not as those who have no hope.
