Obituary of ALVIN EMMANUEL DUMLER
Alvin E. Dumler, 73, well-known columnist for the Hutchinson News, died at Hutchinson Hospital Wednesday morning after a short illness.
Dumler retired in 1971 but continued to write oil and gas news for the Hutchinson paper and Kansas City Star until his death.

He wrote a High Plains column that appeared in the Hutchinson paper twice a week. He was recognized as an authority on the state's oil and gas business.

Mr. Dumler is survived by his widow Bernice, of the home; a stepson Jimmy J. Cox of Dodge City; a brother, Adolph of Ellsworth, formrly of Russell; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Ochs of Great Bend; Mrs. Frieda Strecker and Mrs. Irene Yingling, both of Russell; and several other relatives in the Russell area.

Dumler was born in 1906 in Russell County. He moved to Hutchinson and began to work at The News in June 1930.  He served as the Hutchinson paper's district editor for the 14 years preceding his retirement.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements." (Article is hand dated April 9, 1979.)
