Funeral Card of CARL A. DUMLER

Carl A. Dumler, son of David S. and Carrie (Strecker) Dumler, was born August 31, 1918 in Russell County, Kansas. He departed this life on October 10, 1973 from an apparent heart attack at the age of 55 years, 1 month and 9 days.

Carl lived his early life on the family farm in the Pioneer community and attended the Pioneer Rural School, he later graduated from Russell High School where he was always involved in the many activities of school, as well as the farm. He began working in various lines of work and was a partner in a gas tank truck service at the time he was called into active service in the U.S. Army during World War II. While in service he was united in marriage to Florence Keil at Hugo, Oklahoma and they made their home in Texas until Carl's discharge from active duty at which time they returned to Russell to make their home. This union was blessed with five children, Jean, Carl A. Jr., Rita, Kay and Jody.

There were many facets to Carl's life, but his family always was first and foremost in his concern. He was a very active farmer-stockman, taking great pride in his Angus cattle and in his wheat ground. His love for the farm and his wheat production let him to his eleven years of service as a director with the Kansas Wheat Commission and also with the Great Plains Wheat, Inc., where he served as president and was currently the chairman of the Public Relations Committee. His participation in both domestic and foreign act ivies with the wheat commission were a great challenge and a very rewarding experience for Carl.

Along with his farming Carl was involved in oil production and was also a bulk oil distributor. He was also instrumental in assisting in the building of several new homes in Russell and had just completed his own new home.

He was a member of the Russell Kiwanis Clue and on their board of directors, a member of the Russell Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post No. 99, the Elks Lodge and the Russell County Saddle Club.

Another of the outstanding involvements in Carl's life was his church. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John Lutheran Church. He was one of the outstanding Lay Leaders, serving several terms on the church council, was president of the council, as well as serving on several other church committees. His love and devotion for his church was as apparent as his love for his family.

Those who survive to mourn his passing include his wife, Florence, of the home; his son, Carl A. Jr., of Russell; four daughters, Mrs. John (Jean) Naegele of Hays, Mrs. Clifford (Rita) Atkerson of Russell, Kay and Jody of the home; five grandchildren, Phil, Mike, Kirk and Kari Naegele and Terri Dumler; one brother, Paul E. Dumler of Rural Russell; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Dietz of Otis; several other relatives and a host of friends and working acquaintances.
