Obituary of EVA DEWALD
Eva DeWald, 100, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Integrated Health Services, Great Bend, where she resided.

She was born October 23, 1900, at Russell, the daughter of John George and Katherine Elizabeth Lohmann DeWald.

Eva lived most of her life in the Russell area, graduating from Russell High School, and attending Fort Hays State University and the University of California at Berkeley. Except for a short time in Hoisington and Wellington, her teaching career was in Russell County schools. She retired in 1962 and then spend several years in Florida before returning to Russell in 1979. She moved to Great Bend in 1993. She was never married.

Eva was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Sorority, both of Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, John, David, Daniel, Walter, Henry and Robert Michael DeWald; five sisters, Lydia St. Aubyn, Bertha Wenger, Amelia Kelly, Clara Krug and Martha Harrop.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Dan-elda St. Aubyn, Great Bend, and Peggy Ehrlich, Russell, who has been her caregiver.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel, Russell, with Rev. Harlan Kaden officiating. Burial will follow at Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 5, and from 9 a.m. to time of service Friday, July 6, at Pohlman's Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, or Russell County Historical Society in care of the mortuary.
