Ferdinand David Dumler, son of David Michael (sic - should be David R.) and Sara (Schwindt) Dumler, was born October 5, 1914 in Russell County, near Milberger, Kansas. His death occurred December 14, 1990 in the Wheatlands Nursing Center, Russell, Kansas after several months of failing health. His age was 76 years 2 months and 9 days.

Ferd, as all his friends knew him, lived most of his life in southern Russell County in the Milberger community. He received his basic education in the area schools and on June 6, 1937 Ferd was united in marriage to Tabea Esther Boxberger at Milberger. This union was blessed with two sons: Calvin and Emanuel.

All of his life was filled with the many and varied activities of a farmer and stockman. Ferd loved the soil and was involved in all the area programs for the farming community. He served on the township board, the school board, was active in the 4-H clubs and participated in activities with his sons. He was also active in the Farm Bureau and the Republican Party for Russell County. After his retirement, Ferd and Tabea moved to Russell; they were involved in the Downtown Senior Citizen's Center and other activities until his health failed and he needed nursing home care.

Ferd was a long time member of the United Emanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger and had served his church on a number of committees and on the Church Council.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, wife, Tabea, who died February 14, 1986, brother Albert Dumler and sister Ruth Dietz.

Survivors are his sons: Calvin and his wife Margaret, of Great Bend, Kansas, and Emanuel "Mac" and his wife, Brenda, of Lee's Summit, Missouri and three grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother William of Aurora, Colorado and two sisters; Elma Brack of Galatia, Kansas and Eulalia Titus, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, several other relatives and a host of friends.
