George August Kunz, son of Albert and Matilda (Collatz) Kunz, was born January 12, 1884 at the family farm in the Big Creek community south of Gorham, Kansas. He passed away on September 15, 1968 at the Hadley Memorial Hospital in Hays, Kansas after an illness of 15 days. His age was 84 years, 8 months and 3 days.

George received his education in the Russell County schools and later was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Milberger, Kansas on March 31, 1901.

His lifetime home was the original family farm in the Big Creek community where he was born. Here he was an active farmer and stockman and continued his interest as a stockman even after this retirement. He took great pleasure in traveling and do so extensively in later years. His travels made his love of the outdoors even more meaningful for him. He was a person who took great interest in community and world affairs and was well informed on controversial subjects and political affairs.

He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous other persons whom he helped and befriended in his own particular manner throughout his lifetime.

Survivors include his two brothers, John and Albert of the home, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Janne, also of the home and Mrs. Albert Janne of Norwich, Kansas, several nieces and nephews and friends.
