15 January 1955
Funeral Card of GEORGE K. STEINERT
George K. son of John F and Eva K. Steinert, nee Dumler was born October 20, 1893 on a farm in south Russell County and departed this life on January 15, 1955 at the Russell Hospital, Russell, Kansas. Age 61 years, 2 months and 25 days.

On November 27, 1893 he was baptized in the Lutheran faith and later on April 12, 1908 he was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Milberger, Kansas. He remained a true and faithful member of his church the remainder of his life.

On March 30, 1917 he was united in marriage to Mary K. Kraft. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive him. He spent his lifetime farming in the Milberger community where he took an active interest in community church and social affairs.

Mr. Steinert always enjoyed good health until last October 28 when he was admitted to the Russell Hospital. After undergoing surgery he returned home about five weeks later and seemingly was on the road to recovery. However his condition took a turn for the worse and he was returned to the Hospital last Friday, where he passed away early Saturday morning at 1:50 a.m.

Always a kind and gracious father and husband, a friendly neighbor, devout member of his church and a respected citizen of the community, he will long be remembered for his acts and deeds.

Surviving are, his wife, Mary K.; the five children, Reuben Steinert, Mrs. Sigmund (Rosie) Boxberger, Mrs. Clarence (Virginia) Boxberger, Mrs. Raymond (Edna) Tittel and Mrs. Leonard (Mabeline) Karst, all of the Milberger Community. Two brothers, Emanuel and Dave Steinert of Russell, three sisters, Mrs. Katie Nuss, Russell; Mrs. John K. and Mrs. Peter Nuss of Great Bend, Kan.; also 12 grandchildren, other close relatives and many friends. One brother preceded him in death.
