Obituary of GAYL M. DeVORE
Gayl M. DeVore, 83, a long time Russell resident, died Thursday, January 10, 2002, at Summer Regional Medical Center, Wellington.

He was born October 31, 1918 at Durham, the son of John H. and Anna F. Smith DeVore.

He married Kathleen Lewis September 25, 1943 at Duncan, Oklahoma. She died June 24, 2000.

Gayl lived his early live in the Durham area and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For many years he traveled as a sales representative for ladies apparel. He also owned his own retail store in Russell for many years. From 1973 to 1999 he lived in Abilene, the returned to Russell to live. He moved to Winfield to live in the VA Retirement Home the past few months.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Russell.

Gayl was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and two brothers, James and Howard DeVore.

Survivors include; one son, F. K. Michael DeVore, Udall; two daughters, Pamela Anschutz, Russell, and Kathy Devore, Abilene; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

There was a private family graveside service at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 13, at Russell City Cemetery, Russell.
