Funeral Card of JACOB STEINERT
Jacob Steinert, son of George and Margaret Steinert was born August 16, 1869 at Eckheim, Russia. At the age of eight years he came with his parents to America. The family arrived in Russell County February 9, 1878 and settled in the Bender Hill colony. Later in the spring of the same year they moved to the homestead in the Winterset community.

 There he attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On February 16, 1892 he was united in marriage to Pauline Strecker. To this union eight children were born, four boys and four girls. He was engaged in farming nearly all his life and took an active interest in all community activties and political affairs. 

After the death of his wife which occurred April 12, 1932 he made his home at Milberger, Kansas. In March 1948 he moved to Russell where he resided until his death which occurred on Monday morning, October 17, 1949, at 5 a.m. at the Russell City Hospital. He reached the age of 80 years, two months and one day.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Emanuel Becker, Russell, Kans., Mrs. P. E. Streck, Galatia, Kans., Mrs. Russell Hampton, Corona Del Mar, Calif., and Mrs. Rueben Dumler, Winfield, Kan. Three brothers; George and Reinhardt of Hoisington, Kans., Fred of Galatia, Kans. One sister, Mrs. Fred Morgenstern of Russell, Kans. also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Herman Steinert of Russell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m. from the Deines Funeral Home and at 3 p.m. from the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Russell with Rev. H. T. Mundreloh conducting the services. Burial in the Milberger Cemetery.
