Obituary of JOHN CAREY |
John Carey, 80, Russell, died Wednesday, January 9,
2002, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell. He was born February 27, 1921, at Baxter, Missouri, the son of Mack and Bertha Overstreet Carey. John married Goldie D. Gideon November 15, 1947, at Branson, Missouri. He lived his early life in Missouri, He was a truck driver in the oil fields, living at Sterling, Colorado and McCook, Nebraska, prior to moving to Russell in 1968. John was a World War II, veteran and a life member of VFW Post No. 6240, Russell. He was preceded in death by: his parents, several brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Ronnie Gillock. Survivors include: his wife, Goldie, Russell; three sons, John Carey, Jr., Hoisington, Dennis Carey, Russel, and Earl Carey, Russell; one daughter, Evelyn Gray, Indianola, Nebraska; two brothers, Clifford Carey, Coffeyville, and Charles Carey, Harbor, Oregon; two sisters, Audrey Smith, Lampe, Missouri and Velta Carmical, Oak Grove, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel, Russell, with VFW Chaplain Ed Sewell officiating. Burial will be at Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 11 and from 9 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the mortuary. |
