Obituary of JOHN L. BENDER |
John L. Bender, 67, Rt. 1, Russell, died Saturday (4 June 1966) at Russell City Hospital where he has been a patient for two weeks. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bender Hill, with Rev. H. Vorrath officiating. A family service will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Deines Brother Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Milberger Cemetery. Born Nov. 25, 1898, in Winterset township, Mr. Bender farmed in Russell County all of his life. He was a charter member of the Bender Hill Lutheran Church. On June 24, 1917 He married the former Caroline Morgenstern. Survivors include his widow, of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Ben (Mathilda) Streck, Gorham; Mrs. August (Elsie) Boger and Mrs. John (Viola) Barrattie, Wichita; Mrs. LaVerne (Josephine) Ehrlich, Russell, and Mrs. Paul (Alice) Wagner, Otis; two sons, Clarence, Russell and Leroy of the home; a brother, Henry L. Bender, Russell; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Stoll and Mrs. Lizzie Radke, Wakeeney; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
