Obituary of MARY KATHERINE DUMLER

Mary Kathrine Dumler, daughter of George and Katherine (Ehrlich) Beck, was born April 1, 1886 at Bloomenfeldt, Russia. She died on June 9, 1965, after a long illness at the AlaFern Skilled Nursing Home, Russell, Kas. Her age was 78 years, 10 months and 9 days.

She was baptized in early infancy and after reaching the required age, was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She retained her membership in St. John Lutheran Church until her death.

At the age of 5 she came with her parents to America in Russell County to receive her early education on a farm east of Russell.

On Feb. 1, 1904, she was married to Jacob Dumler, Jr. at Beatrice, Neb. Eight children were born to this union, with two daughters preceding her in death during early childhood, and one son, Earl George who died on Oct. 8, 1964.

Soon after the death of her husband on Jan. 15, 1938, she came to Russell to establish her home and for the past six years, she resided at 438 W. 2nd St.

In July 1961, she suffered a stroke and partial paralysis. This spring a fall in her home made it necessary for her to be hospitalized at Russell City Hospital, and she was transferred May 6 to the AlaFern Skilled Nursing Home where she died.

Survivors are: Two sons, Alvin, Hutchinson, and Adolph, Ellsworth; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Clara) Ochs, Hoisington, Mrs. Armin (Freda) Strecker and Mrs. Irene Yingling, both of Russell; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emanuel (Mollie) Boxberger, Great Bend, and one brother, Fred Beck, Russell.
Funeral services were conducted from St. John Lutheran Church Saturday, June 12, after a short family service from Deines Brothers Funeral Chapel. Rev. R. G. Sedo, minister of St. John Lutheran Church, officiated.

Music was provided by a quartet, Edward Sewell, Bernhardt Deines, Mrs. Kenneth Dumler and Mrs. Lawrence Wilhelm. They were accompanied by Mrs. Howard Vladar, organist.
Pallbearers were Arnold Dumler, Donald Dumler, Leon Strecker, Lee Edward Ochs, J.B. Ochs, and Frank McAtee. Robert Ochs was an honorary bearer.
Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell, with services entrusted to Deines Brothers Funeral Home.
