He was born May 28, 1909, in Russell County, Kan., to George and Helana Blehm, who preceded him in death during his early childhood. He was married to Edna Lea Ochs at Milberger, Kan., Oct. 19, 1930. To this marriage were born two sons; Norman Dean Blehm, of Ulysses, and Robert Ruben Blehm, presently a student at Wichita State University; and one daughter, Lois Joanne Cheek, of Pittsburg, Kan.

The deceased is survived by the widow and children; two grandchildren, Duane and Debbie Blehm of Ulysses; two sisters, Mrs. Don Keister, of Sharon Springs, Kan., and Mrs. Harold Nuss, of Russell, Kan.
Mr. Blehm farmed in the Russell County area until 1935 when the family moved to Scott City, Kan., where he was associated with a wholesale grocery company. He served his country in the Navy during World War II, in the South. Blehm entered into a farming partnership with Earl Brookover at Ulysses, where they pioneered irrigation farming in northwest Grant County.

In 1951 Ruben and his son, Norman, formed a farming partnership in which he remained active until the time of his death. He was recognized as one of the area's most progressive and industrious farmers.

During his active life he was a member of the Methodist Church, of Ulysses; he was a member of Charles B. Hart Post No. 79, of the American Legion, for whom he was service officer for more than 12 years; he was also a member of the Veterans' of Foreign Wars and for eight years served this community on the draft board.

Mr. Blehm's many years of community service, his work in the development of irrigation and new crops in this area, and his humorous and pleasing personality will long be remembered by his family and many friends.
