9 January 1972
Funeral Card of SAMUEL BRACK
Samuel Brack, son of John and Anna Marie (Popp) Brack, was born September 9, 1897, in Barton County, near Otis. He departed this life on January 9, 1972, in the Russell Hospital after an illness of about four weeks. His age was 74 years and 4 months.
Sam, as he was known by most of his friends, lived his early life in Rush County and received his education in the rural schools in that area. On April 20, 1930, he was united in marriage to Elma Dumler and this union was blessed with two sons, Melvin and LaVern, and one daughter, Isabelle. For about 10 years, Sam was engaged in farming near Otis. In 1944, he moved his family to the present home near Milberger and he began working in the oilfields. He continued his oilfield work until he retired in 1959. At that time he was employed by the Weeks Well Servicing Company.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a youth in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Otis, Kansas, and he continued steadfast in his faith. At the time of his death, he was a member of the United Emanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger.
Those who preceded him in death were his parents and one brother, Fred.
He is survived by his wife, Elma, of the home; his two sons, Melvin, Ness City, Kansas, and LaVern, Escondido, California; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Isabelle) Untereiner, Russell, one brother, Elmer, Denver, Colorado and one sister, Mrs. Matilda Brauer, Omaha, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren; several other relatives and friends."
