Funeral Card of SIGMOND SCHWIEN
Sigmond Schwien, son of Fred and Carolina (Morgenstern) Schwien, was born May 28, 1894, in Russell County, Kansas. He departed this life on Aug 20, 1974, at the Russell City Hospital. His age was 80 years, 2 months and 22 days.

Sigmond grew to manhood on the family farm near Milberger, he attended school at the Bender Hill School and began his lifetime career of farming on the family farmstead. On June 11, 1916, he was united in marriage to Lydia Bender at the Bender Hill Church and this union was blessed with five children, Viola, Thelma, Waldean, Larry and Betty. The family home was on the original homestead where Sigmond was very active in farming and raising of livestock.

His life's activities were centered around his family, his church and his farming.  Sigmond was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed on April 2, 1911, at the South Milberger Lutheran Church. At the time of his death he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Bender Hill, where he had been an active and participating member of the church congregation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ferdinand, one half-brother, Leo, one sister, Hilda Schwien, and one grandson, Stewart Schwien.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia, of the home; two sons, Waldean and Larry, of rural Russell; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Viola) Bender, Mrs. Solomon (Thelma) Dumler, and Mrs. Hubert (Betty) Radke, all of rural Russell; one half brother Paul Schwien, of rural Hoisington; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Karst, of Galatia, and Mrs. Gertrude DeWald, of rural Russell; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several other relatives and a host of friends.
