ACCIDENTALLY SHOT

Junior Chance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Chance who reside east of Medicine Lodge about one mile, accidentally shot himself in the hand Monday evening. He had been hunting and the gun was accidentally discharged when he started to lay it down in the snow. The charge from the 12 gauge gun struck the left hand, madly mangling it. He was brought to the Medicine Lodge hospital by Walter Williams, where it was found necessary to amputate two fingers. The skin on the boy's hand is badly torn, and the thumb is injured also, but it was said at the hospital Wednesday morning that he was getting along as well as could be expected and that further amputation could probably be avoided.
