Norine (Doherty) Nuckolls

Norine Doherty Nuckolls, 90, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.

She was born March 5, 1916 at Forgan, Oklahoma, the daughter of Philip William and Zoe (Watts) Doherty.

A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1948, she was a secretary for Doherty Lumber Company and worked in the Procurement Office for the Army Air Corps during the war. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Altar Society, and VFW Auxiliary, all of Medicine Lodge.

On November 23, 1958 she married Robert Lee Nuckolls, Jr. at Medicine Lodge. He survives. Other survivors include two sons Robert L. Nuckolls, III, Wichita, Timothy Nuckolls, Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Bonnie Nuckolls Maples, Cincinnati, Ohio and April Nuckolls Jeanneret, Valley Center, Kansas; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Vivian Dougan.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Reverend John Strasser officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Robert Lee Nuckolls, Jr.

Robert Lee Nuckolls, Jr., age 83, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.

Mr. Nuckolls was born November 2, 1923 at Wichita, KS, the son of the late Robert L.Nuckolls Sr. and the late Lena Fern (Byers) Nuckolls. A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1954 coming from Wichita, he was a contractor for Doherty Lumber Company, Medicine Lodge. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Member, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he was a certified Locksmith.

He was a US Veteran serving during WWII.

On November 23, 1958 he married Norine Doherty in Medicine Lodge. She died October 6, 2006.

He is survived by two sons Robert L. Nuckolls III, Wichita; Timothy Nuckolls, Portland, OR; two daughters Bonnie Nuckolls Maples, Cincinnati, OH; and April Nuckolls Jeanneret, Valley Center, KS; three sisters, Dorothy Wolfe, Wichita, Corine Bryant, Denver, CO; and Lena Fern Decker, Denver, CO; 4 Grandchildren, and 8 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Wilbur O. Nuckolls, and Floyd Nuckolls.; and two sisters, Thora Rupf, and Edith Wilkinson.

The funeral was on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Holy Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. John Strasser.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Memorials may be made to Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital or Barber County Veteranæ„€ Memorial Wall in care of the funeral home.
