I'm sorry I don't know anything regarding your relative John Henry Schmitz, but I too have the Schmitz line in my family. My grandmother Clara Schmitz's father Hubert originally came from Brickendorf, Germany in 1860. His wife Mary Katherine Welter came from Prussia in 1863. They married in Illinois somewhere in 1865. Somehow I feel that there were some of their line who meander down in the Bourbon County of Kansas area. One of my grandmother's daughter's Caroline Marie Reiter married a Fred Karleskint from Fort Scott, Bourbon County, Ks. Both Caroline and Fred are buried in the Memory Gardens cemetery of Bourbon County, Ks.

Where did John Henry Schmitz originally come from? What was his age at time of death or do you know? Maybe we can help one another. I have some info on the Schmitz line back a few generations. Let me know if anything sounds like it may be worth our while. Sincerely, Leona Adams
