I am searching for information on John Burger/Berger. He was born in 1825 in Bedford Co, PA, I have been told that he homesteaded near or in Ft. Scott, Bourbon Co, Kansas. He died in 1913 in Walnut, Crawford Co, Kansas. His wife was Susan Bower. His children were Isaac, Albert, Cecelia, Augustus, William and Wesley. I believe that they probably moved to Kansas during or shortly after the Civil War. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Micki

Can anyone tell me where to find a township map? I need to know where Osage Township is, where Benjamin Bowman and his family lived in 1870.

A good map showing Osage township can be found in "Cutler's HISTORY OF KANSAS (Pub. 1883)" which has been transcribed and is available on the internet at:

http://www.kancoll.org/books/cutler/

You have to navigate several bookmarks to arrive at the Bourbon county map at:

http://www.kancoll.org/graphics/maps/bourbon.htm

This online book has lots of interesting information. I searched biographies for "Bowman" and found the following mention of M. A. Bowman as wife of Thomas J. Armstrong:

THOMAS J. ARMSTRONG, farmer, Section 34, P. O. Fort Scott, is a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., born June 16, 1833. He was raised on a farm and acquired a common school education. In 1855, he married and moved to the State of Missouri. In November, 1859, Miss Eva was born, and in 1860 the family moved to Kansas, locating on Section 34, Osage Township, Bourbon County, where Mr. Armstrong has prospered till he now has 440 acres of farm land, carrying on mixed farming, stock and grain. He has a fine family of nine children, having lost three. The members of the home circle are himself and wife (formerly Miss S. A. Bowman, of Ohio), Alpheus D., Eva C., Willis P., Frank S., Emery B., Orville, Melvin and Marvin, twins; and Merrill H. They have lost Herman A., Emerson R. and John G. Miss Eva, the only daughter, is a school teacher, and loves her profession. She received her education from the public schools, graduating from the Kansas Normal, of Fort Scott. Her last school was taught in Missouri, in 1881. Her brother, Alpheus D., owns 160 acres in Crawford County.

I strongly recommend this book for exploring by folks working on Kansas genealogy. It is sometimes hard to navigate, but worth the effort.
