KANSAS BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, DIRECTOR May 30, 1972 The honor of mention in the Chase County Centennial book is very much appreciated, and I hope the following summary will assist in your preparation.

Born, September 19, 1928, in Chase County, education, extended from Strong City Rural high School through college courses at both Kansas University and Kansas State University.

Law enforcement experience starter in 1951 with the Highway Commission Weights and Permits Division. January, 1953, marked the beginning of eighteen years experience with the Kansas Highway Patrol, working as a license examiner, trooper, liaison officer in the Sedgwick County Attorney's Office, and then as a field supervisor.

Appointment to the post of Director for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation was ratified by the Kansas Senate in March, 1971,

Special instruction in connection with law enforcement duties was attained through numerous Federal Bureau of Investigation seminars, accident investigation and supervision courses at Northwestern University, and also gas chromatography study sponsored by the State Board of Health.

Time devoted to special positions include service on the Governor's Committee on Criminal Administration, Advisory Commission of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, Kansas Law Enforcement Communications Committee, and with the Kansas Peace Officers' Association as Governor-at-Large.

I know your efforts on the centennial book will produce a publication of which all Chase Countians will be justly proud.
