Kraft, Edward Jr Edward Kraft Dies
Following Long Illness
Edward Kraft, who had been ill at
the Maloney home in Strong City for
several months, died Friday Sept. 13.
The funeral was held from St. Anthony's Catholic church in Strong
City at 9:00 o'clock Monday morning, with Father Edward J. Albers in
charge. Interment was in the Strong
City Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. and Mr's. Kraft came to Strong
City from Wichita after ill health
had made it impossible for Mr. Kraft
to continue his work in the stone cutting business.
Mr. Kraft was a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Edward C. Kraft and was
born July 3, 1884, at Grandfork, Ill.
He carne to this county with his parents when two year's of age and
Strong City and this county was his
home for most of his life. He was
married to Miss Mary Maloney in
Strong City and they were the parents of two children, Frances Kraft
and Joe Kraft, both of Wichita. Besides his children he is survived by
his widow and three sisters and one
brother, Mrs. T. J. Ryan, of Hutchinson Mrs. A. E. Rockhold, of New
ton: Mrs. Theresa Myers of Strong
City, and T. W. Kraft, of Yates Center.
He was a stonecutter by
trade . He also for a good many
years was engaged in the meat business in Strong City and this city. In
recent years in had worked for the
Manhattan company with headquarters at Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Funeral services Are Held
Monday Morning at St. Anthony's Church.
E. J. Kraft died at the Maloney
home in Strong City, Friday morning, after a lingering illness. He
left Chase County about 15 years
ago and has since made his home
in Wichita. He operated a butcher
shop in Strong City and Cottonwood Falls before moving to Wichita. Edward J. Kraft was born in
Grand Fork, Madison County, Ill.,
July 3, 1884. He came to Strong
City with his parents when only
two years old, He also lived in
Topeka and Wichita.
Being a stonecutter by trade he traveled in
Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri,
where he helped erect many large
buildings. His wish was to return
to Strong City after his health
failed, to spend the remaining days
of his life. He returned here May
25, 1940, and resided at the Maloney home where he enjoyed many
comforts of life. He passed away
September 13 at the age of 56
years, two months and 10 days.
Funeral services were held at St.
Anthony's Church, Monday
morning at 9 o'clock. A very impressive sermon was delivered by
the pastor, Rev. E, J. Albers, on
the life of the deceased. The singing comprised his favorite hymns
sung by Joe Hesse, accompanied
at the organ by Mrs. Fred E.
Sohn, both of Wichita.
Surviving
are his wife, Mary; a daughter,
Frances and one son, Joe; three
sisters, Mrs. T. J. Ryan of Hutchinson; Mrs. A. E. Rockhold of New
ton and Mrs. Theresa Myers of
Strong City, and one brother, T.
W. Kraft, of Yates Center. Pallbearers were Harold Wiebrecht, Henry Wiebrecbt, David
Jones, Bill Jones, Charles Rettiger and Wm. I. Brown. Interment
was in the Catholic cemetery at
Strong City.
