Long, Dora Elizabeth Humphrey

Dora Elizabeth Humphrey Long, 96, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Via Christi-St.Francis hospital in Wichita.

Dora Elizabeth Humphrey, the daughter of William and Ada Chappelle Humphrey, was born Aug. 11, 1907, in Clements. She married Spencer Long on June 7, 1928, at her parents' home in Cottonwood Falls, He died in 1995.

She was a medical secretary and scheduler at the Wichita Clinic until she retired at 70. Mrs. Long was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son Kenneth Long of the home; and a sister, Erma Sullivan of Oklahoma City, Okla. Two sisters, J. Hazel Hunt and Emogene Wagoner, and two brothers, William Stanford Humphrey and Charles B. Humphrey, died earlier.

The funeral service was Dec. 18 in the First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Pat Ireland conducted the service. Burial was in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls may be sent in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry St., Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
