Morton, Eli Brock
The funeral services for Eli BrockMorton, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cleo Potter, at Americus, Kansas, July 13th., was held in this city Wednesday afternoon, July 16th. The services took place at the Methodist Church and Rev. J. L. Mitchell, preached the sermon. Interment was then made in the Strong City cemetery.
Pallbearers were six of Mr. Morton's grandsons, Kent and Floyd Potter, Clarence Morton, Rex Shelman and Everett and Chas. Gayer.
Eli Brock Morton was the oldest son of Brazella Morton and Lois Brock. He was born March 6th., 1846 at Stafford, Ohio.
On March 5th., 1867, when he was 21, be was married to Miss Achsah Carmicle. To this union was born eight children. Mrs. Morton died in 1884. Mr. Morton was left with his large family of children, some of whom were very small at the time of their mother's death. He reared his large family, giving to them tender care.
In 1885, Mr. Morton and his family came to Kansas, locating in Cunningham, Kingman county, where they resided until 1896 when they came to Chase county. Chase county had since been Mr. Morton's home.
For fifteen years Mr. Morton was stationary engine foreman in the Rettiger & Norton quarry east of this city. The most of his life while be lived here he worked in stone
up until the time his advanced age made it impossible to continue working in the stone business.
Mr. Morton united with the Methodist Church when a young man living in Ohio. He remained a member of this faith unto his death.
besides his many friends he leaves to mourn his death four children who are Mrs. Cleo Potter, of Americus, Mrs Mary Pond, of Stafford, and Lulu and Fred Morton, of ElDorado. All of these children were with him during his illness and death. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Clerinda Holland, of Cherokee, Oklahoma, and twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren.

ELI BROCK MORTON
Eli Brock Morton, the oldest son of Barzella Morton and Louisa Brock was born on March 6, 1846, at Stafford, Monroe County, Ohio.
He was united in marriage on March 5, 1867, to Miss Ashcan Carmicle. To this union were born eight children, lola, William 13., Onelie, Cleo, Otto, Mary, Lula, and Fredo
Mrs. Murton died in 1884. Mr. Morton came to Kansas in 1885, locating in Cunningham, Kingman County, where he remained until 1896, when he came to Chase County, which has since been his home.
Mr. Morton is survived by four children who are Mrs. Cleo Potter of Americus, Mrs. Mary Pound of Stafford, and Lola and Fred Morton of Eldorado, all of whom were with him during his last illness and death. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Clerinda Holland of Cherokee, Okla., and 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Potter, on July 13, 1931, aged 85 years, 1 months, and 7 days. He united with the M. E. church when a young man in Ohio. His faith in the saving power of his Master never wavered, and at all times he put into practice the teachings of the golden rule, "Whatsoever ye would that others should do unto you, do ye even so unto them."

DEATH OF ELI BROCK MORTON
The funeral services for Ed Brock Morton, whose death occurred July 13th., at Cunningham, Kansas, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Potter, was held from the Methodist Church in this city Wednesday afternoon. Rev. J. L. Mitchell preached the sermon and the remains were interred in the Strong City cemetery.
Mr. Morton was 85 years of age and he had resided in this county for a good many years after coming here in 1898.
Mr. Morton was born in Stafford Ohio, March 6th., 1846. He was married to Achsah Carmicle on March 5th., 1867. To this union eight children were born. Mrs. Morton death occurred in 1881. Mr. Morton moved to Kansas in 1885, first located
at Cunningham. Since 1885 he had resided most of the time here, or at Cunningham.
He is survived by four children who are Mrs. J. M. Potter, of Cunningham, Kans; Mrs. Mart Pound, of Stafford, Kans; and Fred and Lewis Morton, of ElDorado.
