OBITUARY OF J.E. WAGONER

Funeral services for J.E. Wagoner whose death occurred on his farm south of Matfield Green Sept. 13th, were held from the Matfield Green church at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon. Rev. D.L. Patton, of the Cottonwood Falls Methodist church, conducted the services. Interment was in the Matfield Green cemetery.

Following was the brief obituary which was read by Rev. Patton, covering the main events in the life of Mr. Wagoner.

J.E. Wagoner, second son of the late Henry and Louesa Wagoner, was born August 17th, 1875, and died at his home September 13, 1938, age 63 years and 27 days.

On April 14th, 1903, he was united in marriage to Ruby Brandley, who passed away June 24th, 1919. To this union was born one son, Claude, who resides at the home.

On September 29th, 1934, he was married to Margaret Talkington, who survives him. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Margaret, his son Claude, one granddaughter, Janice Sue, four brothers and three sisters, Fay and Frank of Matfield Green, Fred of Cottonwood Falls, Clay of Boise City, Okla., Mrs. Stella Johnson of Cottonwood Falls, Mrs. Grace Hamilton of Wellington, Mrs. Maggie Troup of Wichita. One brother preceeded [sic] him in death in 1936. He leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

J.E. WAGONER DIES AT MATFIELD GREEN

Well Known Farmer of Matfield Vicinity Had Been Sick For Some Time.

J.E. “Ed” Wagoner, well known Matfield Green farmer, died early Tuesday morning at his home after a six months’ sickness with paralysis. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the high school auditorium in Matfield Green, and interment will be in the Matfield cemetery. The Rev. Dwight L. Patton of Cottonwood Falls will conduct the services.

Mr. Wagoner was a lifelong resident of the Matfield Green community having been born there August 17, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wagoner. He spent practically all the 63 years of his life in the Matfield vicinity.

Surviving Mr. Wagoner are his wife, Margaret; a son, Claude, of Matfield Green; three sisters, Mrs. A.E. Johnson, Cottonwood Falls; Mrs. Maggie Troupe, Wichita, and Mrs. Grace Hamilton, Wellington; four brothers, Fred, Cottonwood Falls; Frank and Ray, Matfield Green, and Clay, Boise City, Okla.
