Ward, Timothy H
T. H. WARD PASSES
AT HIS HOME HERE
'I'. H. Ward died at his home in this city Sunday afternoon, following a long illness. He had been in a very serious condition and confined to his bed for more than six months, during which time his wife and daughters were almost constantly with him. He was in his 86th year, and only his unusual vitality prolonged his life for months after he became ill.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. E. M. Scott conducted the service. The songs, "The City Four Square," "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder," and "Going Down the Valley" were sung by a mixed choir. Interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery west of this city.
Timothy H. Ward was born in Kent county, England, February 16, 1819. In 1868, at the age of 19, he, with a younger brother, came to .America. The trip across the Atlantic required 14 days. He first located in Illinois, but three years later, in 1871, he came to Kansas, locating on a farm in Greenwood county.
He was married in Greenwood county to Miss Emma Apperson, on May 27, 1880. Until the year 1909, Mr. and Mrs. Ward lived on a farm near Fall river. They were the parents of eight children, all or whom are living. ln 1909 the family moved to this city. During nearly all the years of his active life, Mr. Ward was engaged in farming.
On May 27, 1930, Mr, and Mrs. Ward celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home here, when all of their children and nearly all of their grandchildren were present.
Besides his widow he leaves eight children and 28 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The children are Mrs. Mamie Boofing, of Dighton, Mrs. 011ie King, Mrs. Mabel Keller, Mrs. Cora Keller, all of Poplar, Montana, Mrs. Ella Pike, and Harry Ward, of Fall River, and Mrs. Nora Austin and Mrs. Iva Cowley, both of this city.
T.H. WARD PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS.
T. h. Ward of Cottonwood Falls succumbed Sunday to a sickness of several months duration at his home. Mr. Ward had been a resident of Cottonwood Falls since 1909 when he and his family moved there from Fall River.
