West, Roberta Cain

Roberta C. West, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, after five years at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Roberta, the daughter of Russell and Alma Cain, was born March 31, 1924, at Cedar Point. She attended school in Cedar Point, Florence and the Axtell School of Nursing in Newton.

She married James West of Boyers, Pa., on Dec. 31, 1943. Roberta was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. She was a founding member of Belmont Boulevard Christian Church in Salina. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Wichita, Loyal Doers Sunday School class and Joanna Circle.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Rita Paustian of Niceville, Fla.; three sisters, Bertha Linnens of Newton, Eula Williams of Loveland, Colo. and Willa Laughlin of Eagle, Idaho; a brother, Tom of Little Rock, Ark.; and a grandson.

Services were Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Hillside Christian Church, Wichita, with Dr. William McConnell officiating. Private interment was in Cedar Point.
