Cherokee Co. Searching for descendants of Obed and Celia PATTY. They had children who lived at Galena, Ks as follows: John, who m. Lillie SHAW; Roy, who m. Jesse SHAW; Elmer, who m. Gertie PARADEE; Cora, who m. Harold PARADEE; and Tom, who m. Ola Phillips. There were other children. These families came to Galena near the turn of the century and some lived on Shaw Hill in eastern Galena, while others lived nearby. There were several people carrying the last name "PATTY" who lived in the Galena area up into the 1970s. I have a lot of information on these families and will trade for more.

Cherokee County Lost! My gr. grandfather's sister, Augusta SHAW, who m. 1st to Henry WEBBER in 1890 at Galena, Kansas, and 2nd to Frank RAWLES in 1896 at Galena. Henry and Augusta had a daughter, Ethel, who m. Elmer DEAN. Augusta may have died early, but when and where is she buried? Record searches have been unproductive. Augusta Shaw is the daughter of George and Sarah SHAW. I will exchange info on this family and other Shaw families.

Cherokee Co., Kansas Searching for relatives or other researchers of the SHAW family who came to Galena, Kansas about 1888. George and Sarah SHAW came from Granby Mo. and settled on what became known as Shaw Hill in eastern Galena. Some of their children were: Andy SHAW; Will SHAW; James SHAW, who m. Mary V. WEEMS; Nancy J., who m. Anderson COATS; Augusta SHAW, who m. Henry WEBBER; and others. These families lived in the Galena area for many years and a few descendants still live in the area. I will exchange data with any interested parties.

Researching the Andrew HAMILTON(b.1808) family. He was married to Jane FOX. They had these children: William, Mary Jane (McCLENNAHAN),Fanny (EDDIE/McGREGOR),John Henry(of Columbus),Matthew,James,Stuart. William was my ggf who married Margaret DAVIDSON in Johnstone, Scotland 1856. This whole family came to the US around 1867 and settled in Cherokee County. Most stayed in the Weir area, William was involved in coal mining. William had these children: Janet, Katie, William, James, Stuart, Margaret, Sandy, Andrew, Daisy(my gm). I am interested in any and all descendents of this entire family. There was a Rev. Charles G HAMIMLTON of Scammon who married Daisy to Abe ROW in 1905. He also officiated at William's funeral in 1912. Would like to figure out how he ties in to this group. Any and all help appreciated.

Cherokee County. Has anyone canvassed cemeteries in the county, particularly Crestline cemeteries? On GNIS I noticed there are at least two in Crestline. I am looking for the burial location of my gggrandfather, Henry FARE, or any FARE's in that area. Another name I'm looking for is George Washington FARE, and spouse Mary. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Looking for info on William Simpson TREASE,(my ggrandfather) lived in Cherokee County in late 1800s. Also Charles Simspon TREASE (my grandfather), born in Cherokee County, died in Jasper Cty, MO in 1945. I know that William is buried at Fairview Cemetary in Joplin, Charles is at Osborne in Joplin. OREY, OURY, OWRY, OARY, ORAY, Adam, William, John, S. Arminta, Catherine, George, Lucina, and James. Adam and part of his family was in the 1875 census Cherokee Co. Lyon TWP. Adam at this time was 65 yrs. his wife Mary was 51. Adam was born in Pa. around 1810. Moved to Il. in 1842 Jasper Co. ABT. 1869 bought land from Government in Neosho Co. Kansas sold it and moved to Mo. then back to Kansas. Need to know where he and his wife died and who children married and where did they go. I will share information George OREY and wife Mary (son of Adam) what is Mary's last name and did they have children?

Am looking for information about the Newby HODSON family of Cherokee County in the 1860s. Children were Elam, Jane or Jennie, and Eleazer(my great-grand father). They supposedly bought the Shugart farm. Jennie married David HARVEY, son of Jessie or Silas HARVEY. All were members of the Cherokee County Friends Meeting. We had alot of the meeting records but they were destroyed in Hurricane Frederick 1979. Any information would be helpfull.

Searching for relatives of Obed and Celia PATTY who came to Galena, Cherokee Co., Ks with their children about 1910 and settled on Shaw Hill in east Galena. Some of their children were Bill PATTY, who m. Myrtle; Tom PATTY, who m. Ola PHILLIPS; John PATTY, who m. Lillie SHAW; Roy PATTY; Elmer PATTY, who m. Gertie PARADEE; and Cora, who m. Harold PARADEE. There are more children. These people lived in the Galena area for years but are now mostly deceased or their children are elsewhere. I have lots of info on these people and will exchange with others.

Searching for information on Augusta SHAW, who is my great grandfather's sister. She came to Galena, Cherokee Co., Kansas with her parents, George and Sarah SHAW, about 1888. Augusta SHAW m. Henry Webber in 1890 at Galena and they had a daughter, Ethel. Later, Augusta m. Frank RALLS. Ethel WEBBER m. Elmer DEAN and they had several children including Buck DEAN and Herman DEAN. I would like to find out what happened to Augusta WEBBER. She had died or moved from Galena by 1910, but the DEANS were living at Galena up until their deaths a few years ago. Anybody know what happened to Augusta?

I will exchange information with individuals having information on the family of George and Sarah SHAW who came to Cherokee County, Ks about 1886 and settled at Galena. Some of the children were Will SHAW, who m. TEMPY; Nancy SHAW, who m. Anderson COATS; James A. SHAW, who m. Mary V. WEEMS; Andy SHAW, who m. Jane LANE; Augusta SHAW, who m. Henry WEBBER; and several more children. Most of the men worked in the mines and some of the families lived on Shaw Hill in east Galena.
