I have an ancestor who was living in Galena,Cherokee, Kansas in 1899. He died sometime in 1900 at the age of about 37. He is buried next to his mother and step father in Oelwein, Fayette, Iowa, with a stone that reads 1964-1900. I've been told by someone with apparent access to Oelwein Cemetery records (that I never could uncover when I visited there) that George had died in Galena on September 9, 1900 and transported to Iowa for burial. In the 1900 census his wife Nellie is living with her brother, back in Oelwein, Iowa and is listed as married.

Does anyone have access to death records for the 1900 time period that would verify the above information. I certainly would appreciate any help in this matter.

I am looking for information on anyone with the surname Leach/Litch. My ggrandmother was Phebe Litch who married William Henry Cagle. Her brother, Thomas Litch, was the father of Howard Litch who lived in Galena. Phebe and Thomas' father was Thomas Leach (in some records) from Ohio, who moved to Indiana and married. I can't find them after that. Phebe married William H Cagle in Aurora, MO. Any help would be appreciated. Sylvia Harvey

Topic: Andrew Shireman/Ella Avery marriage date needed
From: Lisa Shireman
Date: Thursday, March 22, 2001 09:12 PM

I am searching for primary marriage confirmation for Andrew Shireman and Ella Avery. Andrew was born 14 Jan 1862 in Morgan County, IN. Ella Jane Avery was born 9 Nov 1863 in Morgan County, IN. They went with several family members to Cherokee County KS in 1880s. I cannot find marriage confirmation here in Indiana. Since their first two children were born in Baxter Springs, KS, I think they were probably married there. Can anyone help me confirm this?

James & Minnervia came from Macon, Tennessee with their children: Harrison A., Newton L., Payton Jefferson Price (my greatgrandparents) m. Emma Hunt, Lucinda, Francis A.R., and Bishop L.B. York. I'm sure these children married and stayed in the area as did my ggranparents. Hoping to connect with others who are searching, would love to know about the other childrens families.
