Obituary.

  Benjamin Franklin Jevons was born August 10, 1848, at Hempstead, N. Y., and died at his home January 23, 1908, aged 59 years, five months and 13 days.

  He enrolled in Company I, 15th regiment of New York, March 22, 1865, and was discharged July 17, 1865.  He was married to Miss Sarah Canning October 13, 1867.  They moved to Kansas in the fall of 1870.

  To this union was born nine children, eight of whom are living.

  Two brothers live in this vicinity, and one sister lives in the state of Washington.  He was a Mason, an Odd Fellow and a Woodman.  Being a soldier, he was a comrade in the G. A. R. post.  Mr. Jevons was one of the mail carriers from this point, and was well liked by all who knew him.

  The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the grief stricken widow and family.

  The funeral service was held in the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, Rev. E. T. Lacey officiating.  Interment was in the Wakefield cemetery.
