DEATH OF C. J. MINER

An Old Resident Passed Away at His Home Yesterday

Charles Joseph Miner, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this county, died at his home, southwest of this city Sunday night at 10:30 o’clock from heart disease. He was over 74 years of age, having been born in Vermont, September 14, 1840. His first wife was killed in this city about two years ago by being run over by the fire wagon. He was married to Mrs. Lewis Bowman of this city a few months ago who survives him. He is also survived by three children all of whom reside in this county.

The funeral will take place from his late residence tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Mr. Miner was among the early settlers of the county and has for a number of years resided on the farm where he died.

The funeral will be in charge of the Grand Army Post, Rev. Mr. Burns of the Baptist church preaching the sermon.
