Deaths.

Died, at his home in this city, last Thursday afternoon, C. Helmlinger, aged 75 years, 7 months and 3 days, of pneumonia.

In his several years’ residence in Kincaid, deceased proved himself a quiet, gentlemanly, honorable, kindly, unassuming and law-abiding citizen, and although he had attained a ripe old age, his death is universally regretted.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Faulk, pastor of the M. E. church.  Major Rankin Post G. A. R. was present and at the close of services at the church bore their comrade to the city cemetery and buried him with honors peculiar to their order.

Christian Helmlinger was born in Germany, July 16, 1828 and came to America with his parents in 1835.  He was married to Elizabeth Coil in 1854 and ten children were born to them of which number six are living.  He served his country in the Civil war, enlisting in the 42nd Indiana regiment and serving until honorably discharged.  He was brought up in the Lutheran church, but joined the Evangelical church when 18 years of age.  He united with the Baptist church at this place some time last winter.
