Life Sketch of Christian Striegel.

  In the passing of Christian Striegel, Anderson county loses one of its highly respected pioneers.

  The subject of this sketch was born in Baden, Germany, December 21, 1829, and died at his home, in Westphalia, Saturday morning, December 9, 1916, lacking twelve days of being eighty-seven years of age.

  When three years old, his parents came to Pennsylvania, thence to Indiana, and later to Iowa.  From Iowa Mr. Striegel and his family moved to Westphalia in April, 1880, thus being a resident of this county more than thirty-six years, and , with his family, being a prominent factor in its upbuilding.

  The children of the first marriage are:  William, of Burlington, Kas.; Joe, of Richland, Mo.; Andrew, of Murdock; Dan, of Niotaze, and Mrs. Cresa Shemberger, of Burlington, all of whom were present at the funeral, which was held at the Catholic church, at 10 a. m., Sunday, Father Doman, officiating.

  His first wife dying in 1903, he was married to Mrs. Santabin June 28, 1910, which union was a most happy one.  In addition to his wifeardairdll (sic) one.  In addition to his children, he is survived by his wife and two aged brothers, one of whom resides in Kansas City, Mo., and the other in Iowa.

  He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in a Missouri regiment.  The pall-bearers were six old veterans.  The remains were laid to rest in Westphalia cemetery, by the side of his first wife, which was his request.

  Thus a genial soul and a splendid citizen is called to his reward.
