D. W. Wilson

  David W. Wilson was born March 21, 1845 at Greenfield, Erie Co., Penn.  Departed this life December 23, 1922 having lived 77 years, 9 months and 2 days.  He was the youngest of a family of five children, three brothers and one sister, having preceded him to the land whence no traveler returns.

  He enlisted as a volunteer, February 15, 1863 in Co. A, 111, Penn., volunteer, and was honorably discharged July 19, 1865 at Washington, D. C.  Mr. Wilson arrived in Kansas in 1871 and homesteaded a quarter section one half mile west and one mile north of Burrton, and has been a citizen of this community ever since with the exception of three years spent near Paola, Kans.

  He was married to Miss Joanna Blades December 18, 1879 at Newton, Kansas.  To them were born five children, three daughters and two sons, two of the daughters having died in infancy.  He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Bertha E. Gaw, two sons Bruce E, and Ben J., three grand children and one nephew, Carlton Brown of Chicago, Ill.

  Funeral services were held from the First Christian church at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday with Rev. F. E. Meaders officiating.  Members of the local G. A. R. Farragut Post attending in a body.  Pall bearers were from World War veterans of the Emmett H. Neuway Post of the American Legion and civil was veterans acted as honorary pall bearers.—Burrton Graphic.
