Typhoid Fever Claims Fieldon Taylor

of Lake Township.

Fieldon Taylor, one of the earliest settlers in the west half of the county died at his home in Lake township Sunday. He had not been feeling well for some time but-had been confined to his bed about two weeks. The cause of his death was typhoid fever.

Mr. Taylor was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, May 5, 1835. He was married to his now bereaved widow in March 1857. He moved to Iowa the next year and at the early part of the civil war he enlisted as a private in Co. E, 19th Iowa Infantry and served three years.

He came to Kansas with Hon. T. J. Matlock and they both located in Lake township in March 1871, where he has since made his home. He was a prominent member of the Methodist church and was mainly responsible for the building of Centennial church. As a citizen and a neighbor he was held in high esteem by all who knew him and his death is sincerely mourned.

The funeral services were held from the late home Monday morning and were in charge of his pastor, Rev. A. H. Ponath, of the Burrton Methodist church. Interment was made in Star cemetery.---Burrton Graphic.
