James H. Coleman died at his home in Erie, Kan., on Wednesday, May 23, 1906, after a several-weeks illness from dropsy, aged 73 years, 2 months and 7 days. Mr. Coleman was born March 16, 1833, and came with his wife to Kansas in September, ’74, and had been a resident of Erie for a number of years. He served two years in the Union army during the Civil war as a member of Co. A 3d Maryland Vol. Inft. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. Emerson from the residence yesterday morning at 10 o’clock and the remains interred in the Erie cemetery. Mr. Coleman leaves a wife to mourn his death.
