James Helme

 

  James Helme was born in Duckingfield, Eng., Aug. 21st, 1841, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles Mitchell, Baldwin, Kan., March 19th, 1917; age 75 years, 6 months and 28 days.  He came from Pennsylvania to Kansas April 11, 1857.  He was a resident of Kansas for nearly 60 years.  He enlisted in the 7th Kan. Cavalry, U. S. Vol. in 1861, serving his country three years and eleven months, and was honorably discharged.  He leaves, to mourn his death, two sisters and one brother:  Mrs. Charles Mitchell of Baldwin, Mrs. W. L. Heiniken of Atchison Co., Kan. and William Helme of Salt Lake City, Utah.

  The funeral services were conducted from the home of his sister, Mrs. Mitchell, on Tuesday afternoon, Dr. S. S. Klyne officiating.  Burial was at the Oakwood cemetery.
