James
Lowry Dead.
The people of this community were
shocked Tuesday to learn of the death of James Lowry, east of Blue Mound.
He died early Tuesday morning after a brief illness, of pneumonia. The
funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, and
interment was made at Pleasant View cemetery. The burial services were
conducted by the Masonic lodge, of which Mr. Lowry was a member.
Mr. Lowry has lived in this county
for many years, and gained the highest esteem of all those fortunate enough to
know him, the same as he has done in every other community in which he lived
throughout his useful life. Many were the expressions of regret Tuesday
when the sad intelligence reached us. It is true we all have our faults
and shortcomings but James Lowry’s faults were few and his virtues were many.
His memory will still live among us though he be dead, for the good that he has
done and for the cheer he has spread among his fellowmen. The bereaved
relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
