Obituary.
J. M. Duncan was born at Dayton,
Ohio in 1834 and died at his home in Neosho Falls, Kansas, February 14, 1901.
His boy hood was passed in Indiana. In 1854 he moved to Iowa where he
lived till 1897 when he came to Kansas and established his homestead at this
place. In 1857 he married Miss Mary Johnson, that union lasted for 44
years.
Mr. Duncan served three years in
the 39th Iowa regiment during the civil war. He had been a Christian man
for forty three years and was a member of the Methodist church at this place.
He was highly respected by all who knew him and the community is the poorer
because of his death.
He had been in poor health for
some months but was not considered dangerously ill till the day before his
death. He leaves his wife, four daughters and two sons. The funeral
services were conducted at the home on Saturday afternoon.
