Obituary.

 

  Joseph Charles Stratton was born at Trenton, New Jersey, Sept. 20, 1834 and died at Neosho Falls, Kansas, August 3rd, 1909, aged 74 years, 10 months and 14 days.  His wife, one son and two daughters survive him.

  In February of the year 1861 he was married to Miss Amanda Wilson of Mo.  To this union were born seven children, three of whom are still living, Mrs. James W. Lynn and Mrs. H. B. Coffman of Neosho Falls, Ks., and Edward E. Stratton of New Mexico.  In the same year of his marriage in the month of September Mr. Stratton enlisted in the union army at Mattoon, Ill., in Company E, 5th Illinois Cavalry Volunteers and was honorably discharged at Springfield, Ill., Oct. 13th, 1865.  In the same year he united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Mattoon, Ill., from where in the year 1870 he moved his family to Neosho Falls, Kans., where he united with, the Presbyterian church where his membership still remains.
