Lorenzo Seeber Dead.

  Another of the early settlers of Barton county has passed to the great beyond.  Lorenzo Seeber, of this city, died suddenly Sunday morning about 1 o’clock, from heart failure.  He was 71 years, 8 months and 11 days of age and while he had not been in best of health, the last few years the demise was very sudden.

  He was born in Cuago county, N. Y., March 3, 1837 and was one of a family of 11 children.  Of the family two sisters survive him.  When 18 years of age he moved with his parents to Illinois and in April 1861 he responded to his country’s call and served through the war, being honorably discharged at its close.  January 2, 1865 he was married to Miss Lovina Arnold and in 1874 they moved to Barton county where he took a soldier’s claim in Clarence township and where he lived until 1893 when with his wife  moved to this city.  Two children, F. C. Seeber and Mrs. Kittie Butler, both of Albert, this county, a loving wife and scores of friends and neighbors are left to mourn his death.

  Mr. Seeber was a quiet unobtrusive man, liked by all who knew him, and a man who took an active interest in all things pertaining to the welfare of the community.  Many stories are recalled by those near to him of instances of his goodness and open heartedness.  He was liked and respected by his fellow men.

  Only a few hours before his death he was in his usual good spirits and helped entertain a number of friends who spent the evening at the Seeber home.

  The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock.
