Independence Daily Reporter, Friday, October 23, 1896, Pg. 2:

The funeral of Mr. M. Dwyer took place yesterday afternoon from the Methodist church under the auspices of the G. A. R. with a sermon by Dr. Wright.  The steady rain kept many away who would otherwise have attended.  The two wagonettes were brought into the service to carry the old veterans, the ladies of the Relief Corps, and the Patriarchs of America to the cemetery.
