Milton H. Gentry, for nearly twenty-five years a resident of this vicinity died at his home in LeRoy last Monday evening shortly after five o’clock after an illness with dropsy for several months. He was 73 years, 2 months and 15 days old.
He was born in Mount Tabor, Indiana, October 3rd 1843 and when the Civil war broke out he enlisted in Co. K, 55th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. On January 30th, 1873 he was married to Flora H. M. Pribble. Of this union six children were born---one, Carroll, dying in infancy. The survivors are Edgar N. of Clementeville, N. D., Orie of Bush, Ill., Elmer L. of this city, Herschel of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. Lizzie Tebbens of Liberty township is this county, besides the widow.
The family was raised on the farm just west of the river. Mr. Gentry was highly respected in this community. Although in poor health for many years past, he never allowed it to affect his disposition and was always jolly with young and old.
The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 in charge of Rev. O. T. Cotton of the Methodist church of this city.
