P. S. DARLING DEAD.

  P. S. Darling, an aged veteran of the Civil war and a long-time resident of Goodland, died at his home on Ninth street, this city, after a brief illness of about a week. He had practically been an invalid for 14 years with asthma and heart trouble.

  His life's companion, Mrs. Darling, died about two years ago, October 2, 1910. Many years ago a daughter and an only son died, and the mother and children were buried in the Goodland Cemetery. The oldest daughter. Mrs. Lou E. Washburn resides in Boston, and J. A. Paul, a nephew who resides in Salina, Kan. Are expected here to arrange for the funeral and burial which is expected to take place Friday or Saturday.

  P. S. Darling was born in Pennsylvania in 1830, and at the time of his death was 82 years of age. He was a carpenter by trade and was a highly esteemed citizen. He was elected probate judge of Sherman county about 15 years ago and during his term of office he was taken dangerously ill and was not expected to live.

  During the Civil war Mr. Darling served 14 months in K Company, 146 Pennsylvania Infantry, enlisting in July 1864 and being discharged Sept. 6, 1865 at the close of the war. For many years he was a member of the G. A. R. Post of this city.
