P. A. Forney Dead.

P. A. Forney, an old and highly esteemed resident of Blue Mound, died last Saturday night after a long illness. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Sunday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. S. P. Cullison, assisted by Rev. E. H. Huston. The church was filled with friends who were gathered to pay the last marks of respect to their old neighbor and fellow citizen, after which interment was made in Blue Mound cemetery. P. A. Forney was born in Dayton, Ohio Jan. 27, 1840, departed this life Jan. 19, 1901. In 1861 he enlisted in the 94th regiment Ills. volunteers, and served three years and seven months in the service of his country. In 1866 he was married to Mrs. Angeline Sweezev. To this union were born two daughters and one son. In 1888 his wife died and in 1889 he was married to Mrs. Mary Palmer. The two daughters being called away by death, the son and wife with other relatives and many friends are now left to mourn his departure. He was converted 27 years ago, and joined the United Brethren church in which he lived a consistent member till after his second marriage when he with his wife united with the M. E. church in Blue Mound, Kansas. He was a true and faithful man, faithful to his family, to his church, to his country and to his God. In his death the church of which he was an official member, suffers an irreparable loss and the community a good and substantial citizen. He left full assurance that he was ready to depart and be with Christ in that house not made with hands that stand eternal in the heavens. The SUN joins the community in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
