SAMUEL L. WRIGHT

Independence Daily Reporter, Tuesday, June 19, 1894, Pg. 3:

            Samuel L. Wright, an old soldier and member of McPherson Post G. A. R., died in the hospital at Kansas City yesterday morning.  Mr. Wright was a member of Company B, 7th Minnesota, and served for three years during the war.  He was a resident of this city for a number of years and was clerk for Mr. Heckman at the old Heckman house for about three years.  He went to Kansas City for treatment some three or four weeks ago, his trouble being thought to be Bright’s disease.  The remains were expected to arrive on this morning’s train from Kansas City, and the funeral has been arranged to take place from the G. A. R. hall at 3 p.m. today under the auspices of McPherson Post and the Woodmen of the World,  the services being conducted by Dr. Wright.  The deceased was 53 years of age and leaves a son, a lad of 13, who lives on a farm in Rutland township.
