Obituary.

T. J. Mitchell was born in Clarion county, Pennsylvania, May 31st 1847. Died May 31st 1914, age 67 years. He was one of twelve children, six boys and six girls. His parents came from Pennsylvania to Clay county, Iowa, when he was four years old, and resided there until 1860, when they moved to Kansas. He served in the 15th Kansas cavalry, while two of his brothers served in the 10th Kansas, and one in the 8th Iowa, and one in a Pennsylvania regiment. He was married to Drusilla Teeter in Douglass county, Kansas, June 21st 1868. To this union was born seven children, four girls and three boys, two of these children died in infancy, while Mrs. Laura Bacus passed away in 1907. Those of the children who survive are as follows: Miles M. Mitchell, Ioland, Oklahoma, Ollie M. Nuttall, Cochise, Arizona, Elsie P. Nuttall Ioland, Oklahoma, and Oma McKirahan of Hooker, Oklahoma. In the spring of 1873 he homesteaded in Elk county Kansas where they lived until last November, when they moved to Howard. He joined the U. B. church in 1873 afterwards uniting with the Christian church in 1906. He remained a faithful and loyal member during the remainder of life. In his death there is left to mourn a loving wife, four children, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services from the Christian church at Howard, Monday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by Rev. C. A. Hall, minister of the Christian church.

The Odd Fellows lodge of this city, of which he had long been a member, furnished the pall bearers and attended the funeral in a body.
