OBITUARY.

Wm. Beck died in Osawatomie at the home of his son, Jake Beck last Sunday morning at 3 o’clock, August 11, 1907.  He had gone there on a visit.  Mrs. Beck, his wife, went back east on a visit a few weeks ago.  The funeral took place on Monday, the 12th int., and the interment was in the Fontana cemetery under the auspices of the Free Masons.

The deceased was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, May 5, 1832, and came to Kansas in 1858.  When the war broke out he went to Illinois and enlisted in Company I, 20th regiment, in which he served until July 1865, when he was mustered out.

He had served as city councilman of Fontana, trustee of Osage township, and as county commissioner.

Mr. Beck was a man who was well liked by our people, all of who extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
