Obituary.

Died at his home in Howard, Kansas, on Wednesday night April 7, at 10:30 o’clock William Rutherford. Born March 12, 1842, in Johnston county, Indiana.

He was married to Martha Hanna September 29, 1869, to this union six children were born three boys and three girls, on of the girls dying in her infancy.

He came to Kansas in 1883 settling in Howard where he lived until the Lord called him to his eternal home. Brother Rutherford professed faith in Christ as his Saviour some years ago. He never united with any church but was a believer in Christianity.

He enlisted in the Union army 132d Ind. Vol. Inf. On the 110 day call at Indianapolis. He was a member of the E. M. Stanton Post of the G. A. R. of this city.

In his death he leaves an aged wife, three sons and two daughters viz., Mrs. Edna Stonebraker of Severy, Kansas, Mrs. Minnie Overocker of Kansas City, Harvey of Chicago, Harlen of Coffeyville and John of Kansas City. Besides his wife and children with a host of friends to mourn his death.

The funeral service was conducted at the home of the deceased Friday at 10 a. m. by O. L. Weir, pastor First Baptist church and his body was laid to rest in Grace Lawn cemetery.
